#WishListWednesday - Christian Louboutin, Aritzia, Zara

I apologize for the hiatas. Velle and I have been soaking up the sun at this fabulous resort for the past week.  After some much needed R&R, we’re back and ready to get this blog going. This picture does not do this amazing beach any justice. This is the most amazing beach I've seen with crystal clear turquoise water.
Our goal is to get this blog up and running asap! Please bare with us, with clashing schedules and never ending hobbies and activites, it gets difficult to keep up with the blog.
I first came upon the #WishListWednesday posts from Hollyannaeree and thought this would be such a great idea to share my weekly wish list and for you guys to get a better perspective of my personal style.  I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I’m always wishing for or wanting something ALL THE TIME! It’s so bad, my wallet hates me for it.  This is what happens when you’re a girl!

On today’s list there are a couple of items that are more of a splurge for me.  It's kind of ironic, when I was younger I was much more into brand names and designer items then I am now.  Now, I always find myself hunting for the best bargain.
I can’t seem to justify spending $500+ for shoes…I just can’t. I rather spend that money on a trip somewhere. I enjoy putting my money towards experiences rather than material items. With a house on the way, I have to budget my money for much more important things like furniture now (which I’m looking forward to decorating my home!).  But c’mon, what girl doesn’t love a pretty shoe!

$1045
These nude Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps are super adorable. I LOVE anything with bows. With a 5” heel and no platform, I can imagine these shoes to be very uncomfortable. Correct me if I am wrong though! If you have these pumps, let me know how comfortable they are.  I can see these pumps amp up any outfit.  I am afraid that when I do buy a pair, it’ll be the first of many – maybe that’s what’s stopping me from purchasing a pair…

$365

At $365, these sound very reasonable to me that give me this itch to buy them. They are too freaking cute! I’ve actually be on the hunt for the perfect pair of espadrilles. I love the woven detail on the front of the shoe and the wrap around laced ankle straps. This was another item I seen from Hollyannaeree. For now, I will continue to admire these shoes.

$59.90

I don’t know where I was, but I jumped onto the military and leather combination trend a little late. Everytime I seen a jacket I liked it was either not worth it for the price or they didn’t have my size! I came across this kids version on Zara the other week and I knew I had to have it. The jacket is on order, I can’t wait to try it on. I ventured into my nearest Zara when I seen this online, but I guess the spring/summer collection took over before I had the opportunity to try it on. I ordered it in a kid size 13/14 years. I’m crossing my fingers that it will fit! I know the hot weather is approaching us fairly quickly (some say not quick enough) and I won’t be able to really wear this jacket any time soon but I know military and leather isn’t a trend that’s disappearing anytime soon. I’ll have to store it in my closet for next fall!

$135

Here it is again, the leather sleeve trend that I just can’t seem to get enough of. Even at $135, I’m not sure I want to spend that much on a jean jacket and faux leather sleeves. I think the jacket can add a great edgly look to any outfit.

That’s it for this week’s #WistListWednesday. Stay tuned next week for Velle’s wishlist!

Review: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster

While this may not be a new product on the market, I think it is a well deserved review for such an amazing product!
The Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster is described as “a high-potency vitamin C complex that prevents and corrects signs of aging while promoting brightness.” It is an anti-aging treatment formulated to firm, smooth and deliver radiant skin.
I discovered this product not too long ago when Velle was vacationing in Paris and called me to pick up an extra bottle for her while Sephora was having their 20% off Friends & Family event. At that point I wondered, what was so good about this product? While I was at Sephora I picked up a bottle for her and also snagged a sample for myself to try out. I’m in my mid 20’s and haven’t really dipped my toes into the anti-aging product market yet - even though I really should.
A little goes a long way with this product, the tiny sample I got from Sephora lasted me about one week using it day and night. The serum has an orange citrus scent to it that smells unbelievably fresh but subtle. It quickly absorbs into the skin, as the brand promises. Suggested usage for this serum is to apply it evenly to the face and neck in the morning and evening, after cleansing and toning. The brand suggests following with face and eye crème, but I find even with my combination skin there is enough hydration and moisture from the serum alone. I still apply a moisturizer day and night after I apply the serum for extra hydration.
In my one week of use, I didn’t experience any spectacular results but that’s given. A product like this I believe takes time to see results and of course depends on the condition of your skin. A product can only be effective with consistent wear and usage.  What I did notice was that my skin was significantly more smooth and brighter within a week. I can't justify whether or not it diminishes fine lines as I don't have any problem areas at the moment and hopefully not for many years *fingers crossed*

Sure enough, Velle gifted me a bottle for Christmas and it is now part of my daily skincare routine.  I'm onto my third month now and I've used up just a little over a quarter.  I think I'm cherishing the bottle too much that I only use it at night now.

At $60 for a 1 oz bottle, the price is a bit steep but as my mom would say, "you can't put a price tag on keeping your skin looking young and beautiful.  It's your skin, you always want to look and feel your best!"

What are your thoughts on the Truth Serum? Are there other serums out there worth trying over this one?

Vicky's Wish List

| Zara Sandals (here) | Coach Legacy Mini Tanner Crossbody (similar here) |
| Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha (here) | Marc by Marc Jacobs Swarovski Marci (here) |

These items scream classic to me. Perhaps this list should really belong to Velle aka Classie but I personally think they are the epitome of sass!  I love items that will continuously be in style all year round and for many years to come.  Don't get me wrong, I love trends but classic items are a must for any fashionistas wardrobe!

The Zara sandals are the definition of classic. The gold heel will fancy up any outfit whether paired with your go-to LBD or even with tshirt and jeans. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Cryskay mix up a similar pair and she looks fabulous every time! I can see myself pairing it with so many outfits, it would be silly of me not to snag a pair!

Some might disagree and say this bright yellow bag may only be a fad for the Spring/Summer, but I beg to differ.  I love the shade of yellow of the Coach Legacy, it will definitely bring a pop of colour to any outfit and the color in itself just makes me happy. It gets me excited for Spring & Summer; which is just around the corner! The photo doesn't do it any justice, in person it's such a rich and bright lemon yellow.  The bag itself is a statement piece.  I know what many people will say, it's basically a wannabe of the very popular and coveted Celine luggage handbag - but don't all designers take inspiration from each other?

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha crossbody is perfect for me, I love crossbody bags.  I like being able to swing the bag over my shoulders and not have to worry about holding it up with my shoulder or having to hang it off my arm.  Its the perfect size for an everyday bag and most importantly for me, great when traveling.  When I travel, a crossbody is a must for me to ensure my bag is securely attached to me.  I can't be bothered to a hold a bag while I'm taking in a scene and of course, snapping up hundreds of photos!

I'm a little behind on the watch craze, the watch I originally wanted from Michael Kors was discontinued.  Since then, I've been on the hunt for the watch that best matches my style, the Swarovski Marci is it.  Now I need to find it in Canada (anyone know where I can get it?).  I didn't think I would like a black watch, since I've been lusting over rose gold tones for so long.  I find myself attracted to the contrast between the black links and the Swarovski crystals.  Throw this baby on your wrist and I just know it will be an attention grabber!

What's on your wish list?

Spring Forward

I've been in a bit of a fashion funk the last couple of months, not really feeling excited or inspired by many of the things I was seeing in stores. However, that all changed this past weekend as my senses seemed to come out of hibernation by the not too subtle hues and prints of this year's spring collection.

I generally gravitate towards colour in my wardrobe because it gives me an instant pick-me-up. If you're like me at all, then this season's colour pallette of vibrant emerald green, yellow, purple, orange and blue is sure not to disappoint.

Floral patterns are also in full bloom, on dresses, pants, shorts, shirts - you name it. Rocking it in any part of your look, you definitely won't come off as a wilting wallflower!

Here are some of the items, I couldn't resist to put the 'spring' back into my step :)

This pink coral striped dress not only provides the right punch of colour, but also fits in with this season's stripe craze that Vicky was raving about here. I still can't decide between this one and the green one. Should I keep the coral, get it in green or add both to my closet?!?!

These shorts already have me anticipating days when I can frolick by the water's edge, meander around town on a lazy Sunday or when paired with great heels and a fitted blazer, out to dinner on a summer's night.

Forever 21 Horizontal Striped Dress (similar) I  Forever 21 Essential Water Colours Shorts (similar)

Are you also looking forward to what spring fashion has to offer? What are some of the trends you'll be incorporating into your look this season?

Thank you for reading!

Stripes are everywhere!

Hot off the runway from New York Fashion Week, stripes are going to be one of the hottest trends this upcoming spring and summer. Vertical or horizontal – bold and big is where it’s at!  Bold stripes were very prevalent in all of the Spring 2013 runway shows.  No longer will stripes be worn only on tops and blouses, but on all garments – blazers, pants, skirts, cardigans, scarves, shoes, purses, etc. Anything you can think of, there will be stripes on it!

I personally love horizontal stripes and chevron!  They add pizazz to any outfit without being too overbearing or loud. I can't wait to wear more bold stripes!  I was doing some online shopping today and I saw stripes popping up everywhere.  I haven't taken a stab at purchasing any vertical striped items yet, but it is on my list of things to buy this upcoming spring.

Here are some items I was drawn to and would most likely purchase:

Zara Striped Skirt | Forever 21 Striped V-Neck Cardigan | Jacob Perfecto Tweed Jacket | Mango Striped Knit Dress | Forever 21 Vertical Stripe Skinn Jeans

Do you like stripes? If so, what fashion finds have you recently purchased or want to purchase?

February Beauty Favourites

I can't believe it's March already.  2013 is flying by so fast! Better late than never are my February beauty favourites.  It’s tough to pick out favourites since I tend to gravitate towards the same products every month.  I’ve put myself on a hiatus to stop buying new make up because I have a drawer full of unused and untouched items (I think I may have a problem...)

Skin 79 Super+ Beblesh Balm BB Triple Function
This has been my current go to BB cream to create that natural, no makeup makeup look.  I’ve had this BB cream sitting on my vanity for quite some time now and I rediscovered it again in February. I tend to use this BB cream more often in the winter as my skin is much more fair than in the summer. Even then, there's still a bit of a contrast between my face and neck as the BB cream has a greyish colour to it, but for daily wear it works. I just make sure to blend it into my neck as well.
Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum
My Holy Grail, never fail eye liner. I don’t use any eyeliner but this one for the simple fact that it’s easy to use, applies on evenly and dark, doesn’t smudge and lasts all day. I can always create the perfect cat eye with this liner, thick or thin. What more could you want?
Nars Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer
I just recently found this sample in my drawer and decided to give it a try. This tiny bottle has lasted me quite long, I think about 3 weeks. I only use a small dab for my entire face.  It keeps my makeup looking smooth, long lasting and most importantly, MATTE for the entire day! I can't stress that enough. I usually have a problem mid-day with an oily T-Zone but since I’ve used this primer I haven’t had to blot my face half way through the day. I might just have to invest in a full sized bottle.
The Balm Frat Boy Blush
My absolute go to blush at the moment. I’ve been wearing this every day since I bought it.  It’s the perfect warm pick that would match a lot of skin tones. This is my first The Balm product and I’m quite happy with the quality and pigmentation. I have two other blushes to try out, but I can't seem to put this one down.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer
This has become my go-to bronzer. The shade is perfect on my NC35 skin.  It is buildable, goes on smooth, long lasting and smells delicious!  How can you go wrong with makeup that smells like chocolate?  It is the perfect shade to contour with.  I've always had trouble finding that perfect bronzer that isn't orangey or shimmery and this is it!
Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector
Excuse the lack of a photo, I recently got 2 samples from Sephora to try out since I’ve been hearing rave reviews about this product. So far, I am loving it. The serum absorbs into the skin nice and quickly and gives my skin such a soft feeling. I’m beginning to see some results of a more even skin tone and hyper pigmentation scars are starting to fade a bit. The results of course are not drastic, but I'm hoping with time they will diminish. The smell on the other hand isn’t very appealing. The only thing stopping me from purchasing a full bottle is the price tag. At $102 for a 1 oz. bottle, it’s pretty steep. I’m going to continue using my sample before I take the plunge.

I'd love to find out what your current favourites are!

Hello Fashionistas!

Hi, and welcome to Classie vs Sassie!

We're a Canadian-based personal style blog about fashion, beauty and much more, managed by the V Sisters; Velle & Vicky.
We created this blog to share our personal style ideas and tips as well as fashion and beauty finds.
Although we’re sisters, in many ways we’re nothing alike, and that extends to our personal style:

As the older sibling, Velle is the busy professional who must regularly present a polished image. She’s the classie one! But standing at 5"2, she often has challenges in finding pieces that work and fit well for her frame. She’ll provide you with some insights on how she manages to be the perfectly petite fashionista!

Vicky on the other hand, may be average height but she's anything but average.  As a young professional working in a company comprising mostly of men, it's difficult for her to find inspiration in the workplace to bring out her savvy style!  She's the creative and artistic sibling.  She brings the sass in sassie! She'll share some beauty tips and tricks, DIYs and much more. Vicky's a jack of all trades kinda girl, so you'll never know what she'll bring to the table.

Based in the distant suburbs of Toronto, we hope to inspire the notion that style can transcend geography. You don't have to be living in a big city to impress.  Great finds can be found locally as well as online. And at the end of the day, it's always about confidence and celebrating your uniqueness.

The blog is just starting up so there might be some errors here and there. Feedback is always appreciated! If you have any ideas for posts, comments or suggestions, feel free to do so below or email us at classievssassie@gmail.com.

We hope you like what you see and that you'll come back for more updates!
